Road test of Dacia Sandero 2018 1.0 SCe 12v Gasoline 73 horsepower – among the Utilitarians, Dacia Sandero certainly draws attention. The first reason is definitely the price: the Dacia Sandero starts from 7,450 euros, a figure that can only entice anyone. However if we go to see the price list well, we realize that the attack version is almost fictitious, since it can not have even as an option the air conditioner. Going to see the versions equipped with the indispensable equipments we realize that the price is still interesting, much lower than the most popular rivals in segment B, that of the utilitarians.

Redesign and Changes Exterior & Interior

Looking at her from the outside you wouldn’t say it’s such a cheap car. Moreover, thanks to the restyling revealed at the end of last year, the Dacia Sandero boasts a pleasant design, proportionate and elegant enough. Placed next to a more expensive B segment, do not disfigure it for sure. The shapes are quite squared and the family feeling adopted is the one introduced by the first generation of the Duster.

The internal optics of the headlights is modern and the LED daytime running lights certainly give an extra touch. Looking with more attention some economic solutions are noticed, such as the doors with the upper edge that comes to “embrace” the roof. On the whole we can only say happy with the aesthetics.

Interior Detail; Low Cost

It is a low cost car and somewhere must also do economy. The interiors of the Sandero are minimalist and equipped with modest quality materials, even quite well assembled. In a market where the houses are competing to put soft plastics or soft touch coatings, the small Dacia house goes counter-current. Moreover, those seeking practicality, simplicity of use and so much substance do not mind the fact that the plank is coated or not soft plastic to the touch, right? Raise your hand who “Palpa” every moment the plank of your car, outside a dealership.

Overall, the space on board is high in relation to the size and the different solutions to try to contain the costs are not too excessive at the level of aesthetic impact.

Dacia Sandero 2018 Trunk and Dimensions

The dimensions of the Dacia Sandero 2018 fit perfectly into the upper part of the B segment. The length measures 406 cm (408 cm for the versions in Stepway), the width is 173 cm (176 cm the Stepway), while the height measures 152 cm on the normal versions, but rises up to 162 cm for the Stepway. Complete the whole wheelbase of 259 centimeters.

As for the trunk, however, the Sandero is able to accommodate up to 320 litres of volume with the rear seats in position, which once demolished give a compartment of well 1,200 liters total.

Technical Specs and Engine

Let’s move on to the appearance of the technical data sheet: The Dacia Sandero 2018 boasts a simple and proven suspensive scheme, very widespread among the utilitarians of the B segment. At the front the suspensions are of McPherson type with triangular arms, while at the rear We find a torsional bridge with an H axle with deformable profile and controlled geometry and coil springs.

The engine range, on the other hand, opens with the gasoline 3 cylinders in line 1.0 SCe 12v, capable of developing 73 horsepower (54 KW) at 6,300 rpm and a maximum torque of 97 Nm at 3,500 rpm. In conjunction with a five-speed manual gearbox, the small Romanian can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 14.2 seconds and reach a maximum velocity of 158 km/h. The average consumption declared is 5.2 litres for 100 km.

Rising level, always with gasoline, there is also the Sandero 0.9 TCe 12v Turbo 3 cylinders. Paired with a five-speed mechanical gearbox (or optional six-gear automatic), it is capable of delivering 90 horsepower (66 KW) at 5,000 rpm and 140 Nm at 2,250 rpm, enough to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 11.1 seconds and reach the 175 km/h H maximum speed. The average consumption declared is 4.9 litres for 100 km. This engine, wanting, is also available with bifuel power supply, gasoline and LPG.

The range is completed, then, of the 1.5-liter dCi turbo-diesel, proposed in two versions: from 75 hp (55 KW) to 4,000 rpm and 200 nm at 1,750 rpm or from 90 hp (66 KW) to 4,000 rpm and 220 Nm at 1,750 rpm (the latter currently offered only for Stepway). For both there is a manual five-speed gearbox (in option there is a six-speed automatic for the 90 CV), while the performance predicts respectively an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 14.6 and 11.8 seconds and a maximum velocity of 164 and 167 km/h.

Test Drive

So we had the opportunity to carry out a long road test of Dacia Sandero 2018 with the new 3-cylinder 1.0 SCE gasoline engine, advantage full for its faculties, or on city routes, where this little thruster makes it clear how Snappy and disruptive in the short and gratifying marches in the suburban paths.

We start from an assumption. Dacia Sandero was born to cost little and therefore to turn to a clientele who wants a car that does not carry in dowry equipment with the latest electronic finds. Dacia Sandero is designed to be simple and reliable and is what your audience requires. Little but necessary, useful and that does not fail. Moreover, on this low cost of segment B there are certain fundamental elements such as air conditioning, computer on board, Electric windows and adjustment of rear-view mirrors as well as optional cruise control and collision alert sensors.

Also on our model, or in the graduated setting, was the Media Nav Evolution infotainment system, used throughout the Dacia range, up to the current market and very precise on voice reception to make hands-free calls via Bluetooth connection. Definitely intuitive and well provided the audio and navigation menu as well as the possibility of using the music of your smartphone.

The new 1 litre engine which in fact replaces the 1.2 gasoline has typical and marked sounds of small 3 cylinders, especially at low revs where the sound is the vibrating, but not annoying. It is an engine made to consume little that reaches 158 km/h. On a mixed route Dacia declares 5.2 liters for 100 km.

We on a purely citizen route without using almost ever air conditioning we got a very good 5.7 liters on 100 km/h. In essence to accounts made with a full run over 800 Km. Praise to the computer on board that for the voice consumes from numerous information to the driver.

As mentioned before a 1st and 2nd gear very short, snappy, good for sprint citizens and on fast maneuvers for parking and changes of direction sudden. Dacia Sandero is very agile, easy to park, with its little more than 4 meters in length, and on the higher ratios does not disappoint even if it struggles to climb on 4th and 5th gear. The gearbox has a long lever giving greater comfort on its grip but in the insertion of the reports is a bit “Ruben”. Although not very has very precise grafts and the driveability of Dacia Sandero is easy and harmonious. Excellent grip on the leather steering wheel and an extremely soft and effective braking system, one of the peculiarities of this Dacia Sandero that we liked most having driven purely in the city.

Although the small size of Dacia Sandero, much appreciated is the presence of the reversing camera in aid of manoeuvres and located on the graduated set-up. Small size but with inside space of all respect in the front and good in the rear. Even the trunk is promoted with 320 liters of space enough to charge a rich grocery store and why not even a big trolley.

Why buy Dacia Sandero 1.0 SCE 75 CV graduates? A car for every day for the city, which has very few maintenance costs, which you buy with less than 10 euro turnkey and is capable of satisfying a customer who wants a ‘ car with the necessary. But a very complete need.
