Our new test drive is aboard the new 2018 Skoda Octavia Scout with 2.0 TDI engine from 150 horsepower and DSG automatic gearbox. Price, engines, size and our opinion of the road test.
We had the pleasure of making a road test aboard the new Skoda Octavia Scout. Our trial version is listed at a price of 32,540 euros moved by the 2.0 diesel TDI engine from 150 horsepower combined with the seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
we could not fail to venture even in an offroad path, a disjointed full of steep ups, between large shrubs and all that goes to complete a typical mountain path, passable also by the cars that lend themselves well to such “adventures”. The views on the new 2018 Skoda Octavia Scout are definitely positive regarding his “work” once off the road, but we go to see all our test on the road.
Dimensions and trunk of the Skoda Octavia Scout 2018
The new Skoda Octavia Scout retraces almost the same size as the other Octavia wagons in the list. The length then stops at 4 meters and 69 cm and the width at 1 meter and 81. It is the height from the ground one of the fundamental elements of this version because it grows by 3 centimeters and arrives at a total of one meter and 53 centimeters, given the specific trim and the 4 × 4 integral traction series electronically controlled. The pitch is 2 meters and 68 cm, to the advantage of the excellent internal habitability.
The boot of the new Octavia Scout, available only in the wagon configuration, has a load capacity of 610 liters, but by breaking the rear small sofa you reach a maximum load capacity of 1740 liters.
2018 Skoda Octavia Scout Redesign and Changes
New Skoda Octavia Scout 2018 in this restyling adopts the modified front, which does not leave some in different with the controversial solution of the split headlights. The adaptive full-led headlamps combine well with the chrome-plated grille. The details that characterize the 2018 Skoda Octavia Scout are first of all the plastic protections along the bodywork, from the bumpers to the wheel and the Support area. It is not a solution to mere style because it accompanies the rough Road pack, standard, which includes plastic casing in the underbody to protect from stones and boulders, both the area of the oil sump and the brake fluid and fuel ducts, conversely exposed to potentially damaging contacts.
The confirmation of the bumpers, together with the extra centimeters from the ground, bring the angles of attack and exit respectively to 16.6 and 14.5.
2018 Skoda Octavia Scout Interior
The interiors of the new Skoda Octavia Scout have made great strides forward. These, in fact, have been embellished by the multifunctional heating steering wheel and an unprecedented coating for ventilated seats Thermo flux. The dashboard features an all-new 9.2-inch central screen, which manages the unprecedented infotainment system. Now there are no more classic keys, it is all touch-screen, or otherwise partially manageable by the commands behind the wheel.
2018 Skoda Octavia Scout Specification
New Skoda Octavia Scout is presented in the Italian market with two diesel engines: both a 2.0 of displacement, but in the steps from 150 or 184 horses, all combined with the full traction.
The 2.0 TDI from 150 horsepower, 110 kW, is combined with a six-speed manual gearbox with a torque of 340 Newton meter and consumption of 5 liters per 100 km, according to the parent house, and emissions of approximately 130 grams of CO2 per kilometer. There is also the possibility, for this engine, of the seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox, which differs in consumption in the order of 5.1 liters for 100 kilometers and emissions of 135 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer.
The alternative is the most powerful step, the one from 184 horsepower of maximum power with a pair of 380 Newton meter. The gearbox is only the DSG (there is no possibility of the manual), the consumption is around 5.1 liters for 100 kilometers, with emissions declared by 133 grams of CO2 per kilometer.
Our road test of the new Skoda Octavia Scout 2018
Our test drive aboard the new 2018 Skoda Octavia Scout develops around the shores of Lake Garda, in an almost mountainous route. For the occasion, we focus more on the efficiency of the integral traction and its being “Scout”, because that nameplate must be synonymous with reliability once the car lends itself on the disjointed. This is why we seized in the “Scout Experience”: a specially studied path that takes us on a narrow path but also suitable for cars, rich in bowls, high shrubs, ascents and descents that say steep is little. The moment the guide is engaged is that in addition to the integral drive, activated by a multi-disc clutch with electronic control, both the electronic differential and the off road function are automatically operated: a system, the latter, which allows to maintain the constant speed in a completely autonomous way, managed by the electronics, without recourse either to the accelerator or to the brake.
We arrive at the end of the offroad path satisfied with the work done by the new Octavia Scout, also because on board there is certainly no lack of comfort, seen the wrap around seats.
Resuming our trip we also see how the Scout goes once on the road. The first impression is to find us aboard a normal station wagon, in fact, the height from the ground increased almost not known (they are just 30 millimeters in fact). The 2.0 TDI 150 horsepower engine responds well since the low revs, while the automatic transmission DSG seven ratios are designed to fit the consumption and give away torque, considering also all the different driving possibilities that can be inserted.
A negative side that we have found, especially by making the hairpin bends, is the calibration of the trim since this has proved to be too little rigid. Want to give so much, perhaps too much space to comfort?

Pros and Cons New Skoda Octavia Scout Facelift
Soul from Vera Campagnola. The Octavia Scout has really behaved well on the disconnected, what must be its “natural habitat”. The integral drive is not flawed, as is the electronic differential and the off road function.
Interior. The Strong point of the Octavia Wagon (so also the Scout) is the excellent habitability on board and, leaving out this value, the interiors are worthy of note for the quality with which they are conceived: there are few hard plastics.
Consumption. We did not detect reliable consumption since the test took place between an offroad route and the hairpin bends, but if the nearly 20 kilometers with a liter declared are truthful, so much of a hat for this station wagon that wants to make the crossover.
Suspension. The suspension compartment is one of the few flaws in the mechanics of the 2018 Skoda Octavia Scout. These in fact, as previously described, have proved to be too “absorbers”. A minimum of stiffness plus we will appreciate it.
Price. Is it worth spending almost 31,000 euros for the entry-level of a station wagon with all the cards in order to make the crossover? With the optional, you go to reach the price of a small off road.
Engine Bonnet shaft. Entrust to a car of this caliber the dipstick to keep the engine bonnet open? We will have preferred the pneumatic shocks saw the weight to be lifted.
