Cupra becomes an independent car brand from Seat. 2020 Cupra Ateca is the first product with this identity: a 300 hp SUV. In the automotive panorama, the arrival of the Cupra brand as an independent division and linked only to the high-performance models of Seat was well received. Cupra Ateca is the Spanish sports utility that has the honor of being the first car to have the trial on the hood: the logo chosen by Cupra to represent its traditional sporting vocation. In fact, Cupra will also manage all the competitive activities that up to now were headed by Seat Sport. Its models will continue to be based on the Seat brand fees but will have different engines and fittings. The new Cupra Ateca enters the niche of the high-performance Sports Utility, combining sporty performance with versatility, space, and comfort typical of SUVs.

Outside of 2020, Cupra Ateca is distinguished by the honeycomb grid with the new logo in the center and the abbreviation Cupra on the bumper reshaped. Roof bars, mirror caps, and grille frames are finished in glossy black. The Performance Pack is available as an option, including a black 18 “Brembo brake caliper. For those who are not satisfied there is also the Carbon Fiber Exterior pack, with rear spoiler and shells of the exterior rear-view mirrors, and the Carbon Fiber Interior pack, which includes a carbon fiber molding on the dashboard and leather seats. 2020 Cupra Ateca inherits from the Leon the 2.0-liter turbo-benzine engine. from 300 hp, combined with permanent 4Drive all-wheel drive and 7-speed DSG transmission. Road conditions, vehicle speed, and steering wheel position are continuously monitored by the 4Drive system to provide extra power to the wheels with less grip. There are four selectable driving modes: Normal, Sport, Individual, Snow, Off-Road and Cupra. By selecting the latter driving mode, the engine reacts immediately with a specially designed rhombus and the adaptive DCC (Dynamic Chassis Control) suspension is adjusted for sportier driving.

Inside the cabin, we find a mix of fine materials combined with sporty details. The CUPRA logo stands out on the leather steering wheel, the mats and the key. Door panels and seats are covered in Alcantara, while the glossy black finishes of the console and the air vents recall the external ones. In addition to the seats, the contrasting gray seams can also be found on the steering wheel on the gearshift knob and there is also a spare aluminum pedals.
