2020 Fiat 124 Spider Abarth: Specs, Release Date & Teaser
2020 Fiat 124 Spider Abarth: Specs, Release Date & Teaser – Rumors and initial advances are beginning to emerge about what will be the restyling of the Abarth 124 Spider 2018. All the latest news
Directly from a video teaser launched on the official FCA North America Youtube channel, some small anticipations arrive on what will be the 2020 Fiat 124 Spider Abarth. Nothing transcendental and above all, from good anticipation, we can not see everything that boils in the pot, also because the official presentation is scheduled in a few days.
The video shows what is the inevitable Record Monza exhaust, with 4 silencers distributed two by two on each side, while the white and black double color seems to be maintained. Speaking of exhaust, given that the video itself speaks of “the new sound”, we can also imagine a redesigned exhaust in terms of collectors.
Given the close kinship, even very close, with the Japanese Mazda MX-5 recently updated in turn, we can already imagine what we should find under the heading “novelty” for this 2020 Fiat 124 Spider Abarth. In particular, it should be a new tree steering, which leaves the steel in favor of aluminum, so as to bring down, even more, the overall weight of the car. Beyond this mechanical component, one passes inside the passenger compartment to see some details redesigned, such as the seat levers or the cup holders, while the rest of the car body has remained virtually unchanged, telescopic steering wheel and door opening apart.
What clearly could not be missing on a new car is an electronics worthy of the time we live, because now there are some systems such as automatic emergency braking that has become the daily bread for each car. Well on the new Abarth 124 Spider we could find the automatic emergency brake as well as the recognition of road signs.
2020 Fiat 124 Spider Abarth Engine Specs
Nothing confirmed from the point of view of the engine. Abarth essentially has a great experience with the 1.4 engine that currently mounts the 124 Spider, since we know it in several power steps mounted on the 500 range, so nothing prevents an upgrade of the maximum power available, which could have an increase of a dozen of horses or maybe a little more. We’ll see!
