The test drive of the 2020 Ford Fiesta Active, the crossover version of the House’s best selling car from the Blue Oval. Our impressions in the street.
More than 40 years have passed and the Ford Fiesta, the now-historical utilitarian of the Blue Oval, continues to leave its mark on markets all over the world, especially in the old continent where, over time, it has gained more and more followers and supporters. The secret of his success?
Perhaps the versatility, not only in the guide but also and especially in the different versions and fittings available, in particular, the most sporty and now also crossover, with this special variant called Active. A sign of attention to the different and variegated needs of the loyal clientele of the famous American brand. We tested the 1.0 EcoBoost engine version from 85 HP, an ideal car for the patented Neo.

We had the pleasure to try the new Ford Fiesta Active, mainly used in the city and in a spring and very sunny, then with a frequent use of air conditioning. Let’s first say that when we heard about a Ford Fiesta crossover model We were expecting something different. Maybe more crossover. The height from the ground increases yes, but very little. Only 2 centimeters, scarcely perceptible at the wheel. The feeling of driving a crossover is almost non-existent. If the family feeling of the car is actually that of the crossover you can not say the same in the sensations that you breathe while driving wherein the presence of the Fiesta, define it, normal, the differences do not warn. What stands out and really makes the difference are the alloy Wheels 17 “(standard on this model) that in fact make this 2020 Ford Fiesta Active more” original “.
Two inches higher in height but do not even feel in the curves where the road estate is excellent and you do not have any rumblings or special pitching but “you pull a little ‘ neck”. The 1.0 EcoBoost from 85 HP is a gem although used in the city and with air-con turned on no exhilarating performance gifts. Especially in the fast restarts, this engine accuses some loophole and a few more horses according to us not faulty.
Recommended, therefore, the Turbo from 101 hp which can give some more satisfaction by paying less heat than the action of the air conditioning on the performance of the thruster. Moreover, to corroborate this analysis the awareness of having used the sixth March of 85 CV in rare circumstances, since, being a ratio of “cruising speed”, is usable only on the highway and above 2,500-3,000 laps to not feel suffocating the Engine.
The guide, as always on Fiesta, is really fun and safe. The soundproofing is effective and the suspensions filter out quite well the disconnections even if the presence of the 17 “wheels make it rather rigid on bumps and road disconnections, especially on the rear seats.
Important note, for those of Fiesta, has chewed a little ‘, that of the mirrors external mirrors. Are smaller than the previous version. Having as an optional rear room with parking sensors is recommended.
Ford Fiesta Active has three driving modes. Normal, Eco, low-adhesion (Active). All manageable by a key placed on the central tunnel where the gear lever and that maybe deserved better position for ease of use.
The regulation of driving dynamics includes two specific traction management programs outside the standard one, i.e. the mode for low-adhesion surfaces and the echo for the maximum operating economy. In the first case to have more grip in case of snow and ice and better control in cornering limiting oversteer or understeer. In the second to content consumption.
2020 Ford Fiesta Active Fuel Economy
And speaking of consumption let’s see what we got. Driving along with Ford Fiesta Active with 1.0 engine EcoBoost from 85 hp over 600 km all of which on city circuit and using constant air conditioning the onboard computer has recorded an average consumption of 7.3 l every 100 km, essentially 13.60 km with a liter. A little far from the consumption declared by the House (5 L every 100 Km) that should be verified with the same mileage on a mixed or motorway route.
