It’s finally time to get behind the wheel of Jeep Compass and start our road test. We get on board and we are faced with a typically American interior setting: seats large enough, the touchscreen in the middle of 8 inches totally inserted into the dashboard. The interior of Jeep Compass convey a feeling of robustness, but they are also treated in detail and are pleasant in shape. Maybe there are a bit ‘too many keys around: now the minimal goes out of fashion and is also more elegant but it is a matter of taste, so many people like the physical button.
Great space on board, it is very comfortable even in three behind the back sofa. The driving position is dominant, the front visibility is good, where everything is clearly visible. Do not fantasize that back, where the camera does its duty in the parking lots. We turn on the propusor and we leave.
Our test sample is a Jeep Compass Limited 2.0 Multijet 4 × 4 diesel. The engine proves to be very elastic, surprisingly quiet and combines well enough with the nine-speed transmission: this has a very short first, while allowing you to stay at less than 2,000 rpm at 130 per hour by consuming little, the average is on 14 km with a liter. However, sometimes it is quite slow in the changes and fatigue in restart.
It is certainly not a fury between the curves, but it is very comfortable to drive the Jeep Compass: it is a car designed for the family and for those who do so many miles. Main features are therefore comfort and safety for all occupants. That said, it also offers fun: the steering wheel is beautiful and has the right weight and load, the suspensions do their job best, the performance is at the level of the horses that owns.
In short: in a very populated sector and with fierce adversaries, this Jeep Compass has all the weapons to fight on par with the queens of the segment.
