Thrusters are also fully compliant with future emission standards. The new 2020 KIA Sportage lightweight eco-dynamic + 48v hybrid diesel engine is the first to be launched as part of the powertrain group’s global electrification strategy.
Kia is the first manufacturer to offer plug-in hybrid technology, with the 48-volt battery through its full range of models. Kia will launch 16 advanced powertrain vehicles by 2025, including five new hybrids, five hybrid plug-ins, five electric-battery vehicles and, in 2020, a new electric fuel cell vehicle.

It can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 4% in the light Vehicle test procedure (WLTP). The existing 1.7-liter common-rail direct injection (CRDi) diesel engine has been replaced by the efficient “U3 ″ 1.6-liter new-diesel engine CRDi Kia, the cleanest engine ever manufactured by KIA. The new 1.6-liter diesel engine produces 115 or 136 hp, with more powerful models available with full-wheel drive and seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
