Comparison between Jeep Compass and Peugeot 3008, two of the most desirable and coveted C-segment SUVs. Aggressive Design and lots of content, but only one are also 4×4.
Jeep Compass VS Peugeot 3008; Who is The Best? – 2019/2020 Version
Jeep Compass VS Peugeot 3008: We propose a comparison between two ofarehe most popular SUVs and areas of the moment. To be fussy, in fact, one of the two is more a crossover. We’re talking about the Peugeot 3008, which despite Peugeot defining itself as an SUV, is actually more akin to the world of crossovers. Why? It is higher than a normal car, of course, but it is less high than a sport utility most voted for off-road. Then it is only available with front wheel drive and it is not possible to have any version with the full drive (at the moment). In addition the suspensive scheme of the French is more devoted to a road use than that of the Jeep.
That said, anyway, we can keep calling them both SUVs for simplicity. They are two SUV of C segment with very similar dimensions, equipped with a modern and attractive design, with many interesting content and both very fresh launch. I mean, two very desirable cars. Let’s go find out more in detail.
2020 Jeep Compass VS Peugeot 3008; Design
Let’s start with Jeep Compass. The design wants to recall all the stylistic elements typical of the founder of the range, the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The front, very aggressive and elegant, is in fact inspired by the largest of all jeeps currently in range. The headlights have a modern interior optic and are connected to each other by the thin horizontal mask, with the typical brand Jeep well impressed, ie the seven slits. The side panel has a sturdy and solid appearance, accomplices the squared wheel arches and the high height from the ground. Behind, finally, the car becomes more compact and sporty, thanks to the small window and very inclined.
The Peugeot 3008, released in 2016, inaugurated the new stylistic course of the French House, which was then adopted on other models released later. The front is high and powerful, characterized by optical groups with a fairly small size, marked by a sort of claw-colored body in the ingeriore part. All along the lower edge of the car body there are protections for the bodywork, which make it even more robust in its appearance. The high-waisted line is well-matched with the black-contrast roof (available on request). Behind, finally, the headlights are drowned in a black horizontal molding of glossy black color and are distinguished by the typical light signature Peugeot with three red vertical elements.
Interior: One more classic, the other more futuristic
If out of the Jeep Compass is inspired by the Grand Cherokee, inside instead the references are all to Jeep Cherokee. The appearance is quite rational, with all the commands in the right place. The materials are of good quality and the assemblies are solid, as you would expect from a Jeep. The dashboard is characterized by a central console dominated by the touchscreen display of the infotainment system (up to 8.4 inches), while for air conditioning there are also the physical controls, which simplify the management of temperature and flow .
The Peugeot 3008 has a design of the interior that aims to strike you, with articulated, angular and unusual shapes. But is it just appearance? The answer is absolutely not! In addition to the design, the French has to offer also good quality materials and manicured finishes. The central tunnel is very high and the bridge is almost minimalist, with very few “physical” commands. All functions are enclosed in the infotainment system display (up to 8 inches), including the controls for the air conditioner. Scenographic the instrument panel completely digital and reconfigurable.
And the two offers, how rich are they? The Jeep Compass is offered in four productions: Sport, Longitude, Business and Limited. By the end of the year will also come the Trailhawk, the version designed for those who have in mind to do more extreme terrain. The most interesting version is perhaps the Longitude, which already includes the 17 ″ alloy wheels, the rear parking sensors, the fog lamps, the cruise control, the air conditioner and the Uconnect 5 ″ multimedia system. Standard on all versions are Full Speed Forward Collision Warning Plus, Lane Keep Assist, active front headrests and Hill Start Assist. The equipment can be enriched (going on richer outfits or adding optional) with the Uconnect 8.4 ″, Apple Carplay and Android cars, bixenon headlights, dazzling automatic, adaptive cruise Control, electric tailgate and keyless system.
The Peugeot 3008 is offered in the following productions, from that of access to the most complete: Access, Active, Business, Crossway, Allure, GT Line and GT. The Active version already has an interesting series of equipment: Lane Departure Warning, parking sensors, automatic bizone climate control, fog lamps, 17 ″ alloy wheels and 8 ″ infotainment. The equipment can also be enriched with: active safety Brake, active Lane Departure Warning, High Beam Assist, active Blind Corner Assist, satellite Navigator, adaptive cruise Control, Full LED headlights and Keyless system.
The SUV’s of C segment have compact size enough to move quite nimbly even in the city, but not too much to penalize habitability and trunk. Here are the main dimensions of the Jeep Compass: Length of 4.39 meters, width of 1.82 meters, height of 1.63 meters and wheelbase of 264 cm.
The Peugeot 3008 does not deviate too much from these numbers: the length is 4.45 meters, the width of 1.84 meters, the height of 1.62 meters and the pitch of 268 cm.
The Jeep Compass has a boot of 438 litres with the rear seats in place, which rise up to 1,251 liters by knocking back the backrests. The Peugeot 3008, on the other hand, has a minimum capacity of 520 litres and a maximum of 1,482 litres.
Jeep Compass VS Peugeot 3008; Engines and Transmissions
The Jeep Compass offers a well-articulated offer and a very valid mechanical diagram. It mounts the engine in the front transverse position and can count on the effective four-wheel suspension scheme, with McPherson scheme both at the front and at the rear.
The range of petrol revolves around 1.4 turbo Multiair from 140 horsepower and 230 nm or 170 horsepower and 250 nm. The first is available only in version 2 wheel drive, the second only 4 × 4. Three, instead, the diesels: 1.6 MultiJet from 120 hp and 320 nm, 2.0 MultiJet from 140 hp and 350 nm and 2.0 MultiJet from 170 hp and 380 nm. The Millesei is only available 2wd, while the two thousand only 4WD. The range is completed with the choice between the six-speed manual gearbox or the 9-gear automatic, depending on the engines.
The Peugeot 3008 has a mechanical scheme more from traditional cars, with McPherson suspension at the front and a torsional bridge to the rear. Modern the range of engines, which includes a 1.2 three-cylinder turbo 130 hp and 230 nm and a 1.6 turbo four-cylinder from 165 horsepower and 240 nm. The types of diesel are the 1.5 BlueHDi from 130 hp and 300 nm, the 2.0 BlueHDi from 150 hp and 370 nm and the 2.0 BlueHDi from 177 hp and 400 nm of torque. As already mentioned, the Peugeot 3008 is available only at the front wheel drive, while (depending on the engines) you can have both manual gearbox with six gears, and with the automatics to six or eight ratios.
Same category, but two very different cars between them. The Jeep Compass has an aggressive and muscular look, with a wide range that focuses on four-wheel-drive versions. On slippery bottoms or off-road is probably the best SUV in its class, thanks to all the know-how of the brand Jeep. The interiors are solid, rational and focus on the latest-generation infotainment system. On the road is very comfortable and quiet.
The Peugeot 3008 aims to amaze you with a very personal exterior look and interior almost futuristic. The equipment of the richest outfits is very complete and also includes very interesting gadgets like the digital instrument panel. Materials and finishes inside are cured, as well as the interior space is shown interesting. The choice of engines is wide, but unfortunately there is only two-wheel drive version.
If you want a dynamic SUV, different from the others and you don’t care about 4 × 4 then the 3008 is for you. The Compass, for its part, has an iconic look, excellent off-road qualities and a high riding comfort.
